Crio Bru chocolate milk.

Unless you have been under a big rock, you will know by now that my new health food of choice is something called Crio Bru and so naturally my little brain keeps ticking over ideas with which to use this superfood.

Can we just take a moment? I am feeling so great from drinking Crio Bru that I have to become a little evangelical about it right now and let you know about the happy side effects of drinking chocolate! (I know, its tough, but someone has to do it!)

I have more energy than ever, I feel extremely healthy and have seemingly avoided several nasty bugs that have been doing the rounds, I am sleeping like a baby, I have a feel good mind set all the time, I have lost weight and overall feel fab-you-lahs dah-ling.

Now that we have that all out of the way;  back to our regularly scheduled programming. So ways to get your kids to get the health benefits of  this, as it does have the taste of very dark and bitter chocolate, which isn’t normally something kids would be dying to drink without adding untold sweetners…this recipe does have sugar, but by the time you have added milk, ice, whatever, of choice, you will find that it is fairly low in sugar. Less than in fruit juice in fact.

Here’s hoping the little darlings like it!

NEED:

150g Crio Bru of choice

500g water

1 tsp Heilala vanilla bean paste

150g sugar of choice

Pinch sea salt

DO:

Place Crio Bru granules and water into Thermomix bowl and cook 15 min/90ºC/speed 2.

Cool completely. Strain through fine mesh sieve, nut milk bag, or muslin. Reserve solids for lots of other uses such as rebrewing to drink, brownies, stirring through thickened cream, body scrub, herb garden mulch.

Return strained Bru to the Thermomix bowl and add remaining ingredients. Cook 5 min/100ºC/speed 2.

Serve with icy cold milk of choice, over ice cream, in any recipe that requires chocolate syrup, or as a Crio Bru Concentrate to which you simply add boiling water, steamed milk etc of choice to enjoy when in a hurry.

Always crazy about food since she fed the neighborhood kids that first mud pie, (seasoned with a good dash of vegemite, a childhood Aussie fave!!) she now has a tribe of her own that she happily feeds whenever she can get them to sit down long enough. Her culinary experience ranges from Bangers ‘N Mash in London long ago…(and far far away) to attempts at Chinese banquets for her University ‘roomies’ in the USA to more recent culinary holidays to Singapore and Vietnam and now several years as a food consultant, recipe developer/writer and food eater and dreamer. Obsession can be a wonderful thing! Ever resourceful and always hungry, and now the proud owner of a Thermomix, she can whip up a delicious storm in minutes, given half a chance. It is on her blogs that she shares her passion for food and the perfect cooking of it! Professionally she works to bring to two major Australian Appliance companies, the best use of said appliances in the form of recipes. Always up for a personal demonstration, plans are afoot for a cooking tour in 2009, so look out for a Thermomix class near you! She can now live without her microplane for the first time in a cooking lifetime, she still can’t live without her Thermomix and she certainly can’t live without her blog comments…so make her day and leave a note!
