When you look at the news right now, of course you could rightly be fearful about the flu season that is ahead of us in Australia. I choose to largely ignore the news as I am pretty sure they are just selling fear, but I do believe in being prepared for flu season. I travel a lot and I always make sure my immunity is in tip top shape by keeping on top of my juices! This one is designed to have everything in it you need to be warding off the evil that lurks in the form of flu bugs. It has no guarantees of course, and I wish you all well with the winter ahead, but I do think you can be a bit safer with this flowing through your system.

(OH and to clean turmeric stains, please go and get Thermo Quickleen which is a non chemical, gentle abrasive and will remove most stains very successfully.)

BENEFITS:

Turmeric: Curcumin is the main active ingredient in turmeric. It has powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is a very strong antioxidant.

Ginger: As well as many other amazing health giving properties, gingerol, the bioactive substance in fresh ginger, can help lower the risk of infections.

Kale: Many powerful antioxidants are found in kale, including quercetin and kaempferol, which have numerous beneficial effects on health. One cup of kale actually has more Vitamin C in it than an orange.

Mint: Mint contains fair amounts of several nutrients and is an especially good source of vitamin A and antioxidants.

Parsley: Parsley contains many powerful antioxidants, which may help prevent cell damage and lower your risk of of catching certain viruses.

Pineapple: Pineapples have anti-inflammatory properties that may boost the immune system.

Limes: Besides vitamin C, limes are also a great source of antioxidants, which help strengthen your immune system by defending cells against free radical damage.

Apples: Apples contain antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds that may help regulate immune responses and protect against asthma.

Pears: Pears are a rich source of flavonoids, which are antioxidants that may help reduce inflammation and protect against certain diseases.

Vinegar: The main substance in vinegar, acetic acid, can kill harmful bacteria or prevent them from multiplying. It has a history of use as a disinfectant and natural preservative.

Black Pepper OIl: With slightly different properties than black pepper itself, it has good antibacterial properties. It is very effective in curing bacterial infections in the mouth, colon, digestive system, and urinary tract. It also disinfects food that it is added to and protects them from bacterial infections for long periods.

Passionfruit: Apart from being rich in Vitamin C (and tasting delicious!) passionfruit is rich in antioxidants and dietary fiber.

Need

  • 100 Grams fresh turmeric
  • 100 Grams fresh ginger
  • 2 Handfuls greens of choice (we used kale and spinach) de-stalked
  • 1 Handful mint leaves, off the stalk
  • 1 Handful Italian parsley leaves, off the stalk
  • 200 Grams fresh pineapple, peeled and cubed without cored
  • 2 limes, peeled with pith removed
  • 1 pink lady apple, skin on, quartered
  • 1 pear, skin on, quartered
  • 1 Teaspoon apple cider vinegar or other drinking vinegar
  • 3 Drops doTERRA black pepper oil or some freshly ground black pepper but not as good as the oil! BUY
  • 2 passionfruit, pulp for garnish

Do

1

Juice the turmeric and ginger in a traditional juicer and reserve. If you don't have a juicer, grate them in your Thermomix, then squeeze the juice out manually. This will be very messy and yellow! Discard the solids.

2

Place the greens and herbs into the Thermomix bowl and blend 5 sec/speed 10. Scrape down sides of bowl.

3

Add remaining ingredients except turmeric, ginger juice, water and passionfruit pulp. Add water through hole in the lid as you blend 2-3 min/speed 10. Don't think it is blended at 1 minute. It will separate if you don't go long and hard!

4

Serve with the turmeric ginger juice on the side, and garnish with passionfruit pulp and a mint leaf or two!
