Coffee and You!

Coffee and You!

Humanity runs on coffee

Most people will begin their day with a cup of coffee, java, joe, dirt, mud, brew, cuppa, daily grind, lifeblood, tar, rocket fuel, even worm dirt! This popular beverage gives us a much-needed energy boost and helps us make it through the day. Although it’s a well-known fact that caffeine can interfere with our sleep, moderate coffee intake can also have some health benefits. According to some sources, this tasty drink can reduce the risk of Parkinson’s disease and prevent liver cancer. Whilst more research is still needed to examine coffee’s effects, here are a few useless statistics.

33% of all coffees bought in Australia are lattes.

The second most popular coffee bought in Australian cafes are flat whites, which account for 24% of all coffee sales, followed by cappuccinos, which make up 19% of sales. 8% of all coffees sold are long blacks, and only 4% are espressos.

On average, Aussies consumes just under 2kg of coffee per person annually, which sounds a bit under to me...but who's checking? That does add up to a staggering 37 million kgs of coffee beans though, so I guess that's pretty impressive!

I am not a coffee drinker. But I love the taste of coffee in all sorts of other ways. Here are a few of my recipes starring coffee, the fuel to the world!
