Make sure not to over do the basil. You want strawberry jam with a little basil, not basil jam with a little strawberry! You cannot substitute the fresh basil leaves with dried. And given the current craziness about the Va Va Voom Vanilla Strawberry Jam, I thought it was time you realised I am not a one trick pony! Use some of that amazing basil that is out and about now and get your jam on!
- 400 g strawberries
- 200 g sugar
- 5-6 fresh basil leaves
- 1 green apple, quartered (including pips and skin)
Place all ingredients into TM bowl and chop 2 sec/speed 6.
Cook 60 min/100°C/speed 1/MC off and with the simmering basket on top of the bowl to prevent spattering.
Check consistency by placing a drop of jam on a cold china plate. If it wrinkles when pushed it is ready.
Add more cooking time if required.
Pour into hot glass jars and seal.
