Balance Jamu Jamu
I became obsessed with jamu quite a while back and now, just like other foods I find around the world, I am trying to fit them all into my daily diet. This is easy to add to any routine you have. You can make it once a week, keep it refrigerated and drink it hot or cold. The variations are endless. I have so many options for you, it is staggering and I did think about making a Jamu Jamu chart. Watch this space!
It originates in Bali and is good for your gut health, acts as an anti-inflammatory, will boost your immunity and keep the bugs at bay. Drinking it is not a chore at all, it is completely delicious and once you have this one down, which by the way will fight aging, help you detox and help your mental stability, then the sky is the limit!
My really eye opening experience to Jamu was when I stayed at Katamama Hotel at Potato Head Bali. They have it down to a fine art and this recipe is one of theirs. They serve a jamu shot on arrival literally as you get out of your car. Then for breakfast everyday we had a choice on which way to jamu...I loved them all. Turmeric: Curcumin is the main active ingredient in turmeric. It has powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is a very strong antioxidant.
Ginger: As well as many other amazing health giving properties, gingerol, the bioactive substance in fresh ginger, can help lower the risk of infections.
Galangal: Contains anti-inflammatory properties and therefore is beneficial in treatment of arthritis. Also contains a host of antioxidants that help to minimise the damage caused by our crazy lives.
Lemongrass: Is a powerhouse of antioxidants, antimicrobials, can help you reduce high blood pressure, high cholesterol, reduce weight, relieve symptoms of PMS, and reduce inflammation in the body.
Limes: Besides vitamin C, limes are also a great source of antioxidants, which help strengthen your immune system by defending cells against free radical damage.
Black Pepper OIl: With slightly different properties than black pepper itself, it has good antibacterial properties. It is very effective in curing bacterial infections in the mouth, colon, digestive system, and urinary tract. It also disinfects food that it is added to and protects them from bacterial infections for long periods.
Cinnamon: is an anti-bacterial. It also boosts brain function.
Cloves: are high in antioxidants, including eugenol and vitamin C, both of which can help reduce oxidative stress.
