Cheese and Jalapeno Scones
The most delicious savoury scone you will ever have the pleasure of eating. Get to it my lovelies.
Whatever you call these, they are really simple and come together very quickly to feed a crowd. Cue the butter.
I know from my time in the USA that scones are something completely different over there; they are usually a type of deep fried donut batter, in a rectangular shape usually and often savoury or fruit filled. They are also pronounced differently, 'skoan' is the usual pronunciation. I have yet to make an American scone recipe for this site, though we do have the very similar South African offering, Curry Filled Vetkoek, but that is another whole book!
Largely the same thing, I have listed what other countries call this thing that we in Australia, call a scone...though damper is sort of more appropriate for this recipe specifically. I am sure there are other names used for this flour, butter, milk, raising agent formula. What do you call them?
- Scone - United Kingdom
- Biscuit - United States
- Damper - Australia
- Bannock - Scotland
