Fermented Zhug Butter
A fiery, herby cultured butter that brings heat, flavour and gut-loving goodness to everything it touches.
This fermented zhug butter is where bold Middle Eastern flavours meet the Gut Instinct philosophy. Fresh herbs, chilli and spice are blitzed into a punchy zhug, then folded through butter and gently fermented to deepen flavour and support gut health. The result is a savoury, spicy butter with real personality, rich, aromatic and just a little bit addictive. Spread it, melt it or let it sizzle on hot food; a small swipe goes a very long way.
Serving suggestions:
• Melt over hot roast vegetables or steamed greens
• Spoon onto grilled steak, lamb cutlets or roast chicken
• Swirl through warm potatoes or smashed potatoes just before serving
• Spread on sourdough, flatbreads or fermented focaccia
• Finish fried or poached eggs with a melting knob
• Toss through hot pasta, gnocchi or rice for instant flavour
• Use as a flavour boost on grilled fish or prawns
• Add a small spoon to soups or lentils just before serving for heat and richness
